While places like Paris and Hawaii will always be favorite destinations for travelers, we want to highlight six cities everyone will be visiting next year that may not have been on your list of must-go places — until now.
#6 Sicily, Italy
A trip to Italy needs to be on your bucket list if you love to travel. But we want to point you in a different direction than the places people commonly go, including Rome and Florence. Sicily is a southern Italian island that feels like a land time forgot, full of charming villages and breathtaking scenery. And since various empires inhabited the land at one point or another, there is a lot of diverse history there.
Hotspots: Sicily is known for the Valley of the Temples, where you can see the remains of seven Greco–Roman temples, each dedicated to a different god from Greek mythology. The capital of Sicily is Palermo, which offers ancient architecture and bustling markets. And Mount Etna, Europe's largest active volcano, is also worth a visit.
When to Go: Summertime is the best time to go, but the warm weather lasts until as late as November.

# 5 Cape Town, South Africa
Forbes ranked Cape Town as the number one African destination for 2020, and there are several reasons for that. First of all, it's the perfect destination for luxury travelers and adventure seekers alike, with a wide variety of activities to suit any traveler's needs. The city is also known as a cultural hub and gastronomic capital. Finally, Cape Town has a mild climate all year long, so you don't need to stress about when to plan your trip.
Hotspots: Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens is a major destination for travelers from all over the world. It's one of the most extensive and loved botanical gardens on the planet. Table Mountain is another must-see. When you make your way to the top, you can catch incredible views of the city below and the ocean beyond.
When to Go: The mild climate means any time of year is a great time to visit Cape Town.

# 4 Kigali, Rwanda
Adventurous travelers will love the unique experiences they can have in Kigali, Rwanda, including food and unique cultural exhibitions. And several new luxury hotels can make your experience comfortable while still being outside the norm.
Hotspots: Kigali is home to world-class art galleries to explore as you wander around the city. Hike through Volcanoes National Park and you might see gorillas in the wild.
When to Go: June through September are the months with the best weather.
# 3 Porto, Portugal
Porto is one of the up-and-coming travel destinations for 2020 and the perfect place for couples to visit. Porto is a romantic city with great wine and decadent food, often at a reasonable cost. You'll also find friendly locals and rich history.
Hot Spots: The Douro River/Douro Valley is becoming more and more of a hotspot, with luxurious river cruises to show you the area. The terraced hills and flowing river provide the perfect setting for a honeymoon or romantic getaway. In Porto itself, the Bolsa Palace is a National Monument you don't want to miss.
When to Go: Late spring or early autumn.
# 2 Tel Aviv, Israel
This ancient city is a bustling metropolis that sits on the Mediterranean Sea. All the shopping and nightlife you would imagine from a major urban area can be found in Tel Aviv.
Hot Spots: The Port of Jaffa is one of the oldest ports in the world. Its become a cultural attraction as well with art galleries and an incredible market. Hayarkon Park is another favorite destination with its unique rock garden and botanical gardens.
When to Go: Spring and fall are the best times to go. The weather gets very hot in the summer.
# 1 Dubrovnik, Croatia
Croatia is becoming the place to visit in 2020. Located near Italy, it has a very Italian/Mediterranean feel without the high cost associated with traveling to Italy. In Croatia, you'll eat incredible food, learn about the area's fascinating history, and enjoy the picturesque seaside. Dubrovnik is a medieval walled city right on the sea. The views are amazing, as you can imagine, and your time there will feel magical.
Hot Spots: The medieval wall itself is a beautiful feature to walk alongside if you want a leisurely exploration. You should also take the Dubrovnik Cable Car to the top of the hill to see the whole city with its pristine red-clay roofs.
When to Go: September and October are the best time to go because the prices are a bit low.
